Know when to master—and when to fix the mix first
Mastering is a final pass on the complete audio file. It can improve overall balance and control peaks, but it cannot independently move a vocal, kick, or instrument once they are printed into one stereo track. If a part is buried or a section clips, start with Suno stem mixing or the Suno audio fixer, then master the cleaner result.

Can mastering fix a buried vocal or distorted section?
Mastering shapes the finished stereo song as a whole. It can improve overall tone, dynamics, peaks, and loudness, but it cannot reliably isolate a buried vocal or reconstruct badly distorted audio. Repair the source or rebalance stems first when that is the problem.
