How AI mixing works on MixMasterAI

How it works

Most AI music generators give you one finished stereo file. To change the balance, the song first has to be split into parts. The stem mixer runs a Demucs separation model in your browser and splits the song into four stems: vocals, drums, bass and other. You can then solo, mute or change the level of each stem and listen to the new balance.

Reference match works on a full mix. It measures the tonal balance of your track and of a reference song in nine octave bands, and applies EQ to bring your track closer to the reference.

What you get

  • Stem mixer: four separate stems and a rebalanced mix you can download or send to mastering.
  • Reference match: a chart of the difference in each band and a corrected WAV file.
  • Mix auditor: loudness, estimated true peak, full-scale samples, DC offset and mono compatibility, each marked pass, warn or fail.
  • Audio Studio: recording, repair, mastering and export in one workspace.

Good to know

  • Separation is never perfect. Expect some bleed between stems, most often reverb and cymbals in the vocal stem.
  • Everything that is not vocals, drums or bass ends up in the other stem, so guitars, keys and pads cannot be balanced separately.
  • Reference match changes tone only. It does not copy the loudness, stereo width or arrangement of the reference.
  • Separation in the browser uses your device's memory and processor, so long songs take longer on phones and older computers.

Should I mix or master first?

Mix first. Mastering works on the whole song, so a vocal that is too quiet or a bass that is too loud is easier to fix in the mix.

Can I mix a Suno song?

Yes. Separate it into stems with the stem mixer, rebalance them, then master the new mix.

Is my song uploaded for stem separation?

No. The separation model runs in your browser, so the audio stays on your device.

How much does reference match change my track?

It compares nine octave bands and suggests a correction for each, limited to 6 dB up or down. Listen to the result before you export it.

Do I need a membership?

You can separate, rebalance, match and measure before joining. Exporting stems and finished files needs a membership.
